FlogYoBlog Friday

It’s here again and I almost missed it.  Race over to MummyTime and check out how to FlogYo Blog at  FlogYoBlog Friday #9.

mummytime

Now I will say that my posts this week seem to have only been meme’s and awards.  Sorry to anyone who wants to know the in depth me (of course if you check out the photo of mystery meme you will probably see way more of me than you would like!).

I did pick up a few followers from last week’s FlogYoBlog and am now following a few more blogs  myself. Join in the fun.

First Post - Another Meme

Lulu has tagged me (again! – LOL).  This one was started by Sarah at Just Me and the challenge / idea was to repost your first ever blog post.  Sarah wrote:

What I want you to do is repost your very first blog post. I want to see how things are different now, if you write differently, if you write about the same topic, if you did a “hi this is why I’m blogging” sort of post or if you just got straight into it.

Then I want you to tag five people to do the same.

Now as I haven’t been blogging long my first post wasn’t very long ago.  And for what it’s worth it wasn't very long either.

Here you go:

Wow I'm finally blogging!

I have been following a few people's blogs and have finally decided to start my own. I'm a little bit of a technophobe and Boy Child has had a blog for much longer than me (probably by about 2 years) and he is only 11.
Mr E. has a few blogs. Pretty much IT stuff or random stuff and I think he might be impressed that I have decided to blog myself. Of course I'm not really sure what I want to do with this blog yet.
Anyway this is a start so I might leave it here for the moment.

So I basically did a Hi this is me and why I’m blogging although some days I’m still not sure.  I’m not sure my writing style is different but it was only 6 months ago and thankfully I have not had any life changing experiences in these last 6 months.

I’m going to tag:

Melissa – Things I’d Tell You who is finally blogging again and I’m sure the blogoverse is happy about that.

MadMother.  Now as she has 4 or maybe even 5 blogs now I think she should post her first ever post from whichever blog she had running.

Ratz  from What Can I Say a new blog I started following last week from FlogYoBlog Friday.  Which I have forgotten to do today….. better see if it’s not to late.

Wanderlust – another find last FlogYoBlog.

And Jacinta From Live Life Now.  She has obviously gone and got a life and hasn’t blogged in ages.

Now I’m going to go and see if I can still flog my blog today or whether I have missed it until next Friday.

The Photo Meme of Mystery

Lulu from Unperfect Life tagged me for this awhile ago. I have been very remiss in not participating in this earlier.

Here are the instructions if you want to play too:
1. Open the first (oldest) photo folder in your computer library
2. Scroll to the 10th photo
3. Post the photo and the story behind it
4. Tag 5 or more people to continue the thread.

Now there was an issue for me as I had started organising the photos last year sometime and all the folders had the same date on them.  They were also not the oldest ones I had so out of the ones that were just in pictures folder I went down 10 and this is what we got:

Me, 38 weeks pregnant with Girl Child in midish 2003.  Please forgive the lack of niceties in this picture.  The fact I’m wearing track pants instead of PJs at 3 pm probably means that I slept in them.  Note that my belly button did not pop out during pregnancy but I did have /get stretch marks.

Having just searched with Google reader, it appears a lot of you haven;t done this one yet (or just named it something that I can’t find so without further ado I tag:

Anella from Things I say and Pictures I take.

Juni/Jennifer over at Where is Juni?

Bethwyn at A Little Bit Of Chaos

Rinniez

DarNonymous from Satisfy My Soul

And also anyone else who wants to participate.

I can’t believe I actually went through and posted that pic!

FlogyoBlog Friday

This week I have decided to join the cool kids and participate in FlogyoBlog Friday.  It was started by Brenda over at MummyTime.

The idea is that you follow MummyTime and then on Fridays you Flogyoblog by adding your blog to the linky on Brenda’s Flogyoblog Friday post.  Then you check out the other linked blogs and find some great reads.

Enjoy!

Back from interstate

4 days of washing to do. 4 days of internet free time to make up. 4 days of Blog posts to read…. You lot have been posting demons while I have been away.

While we were away we:

  • went to the beach (twice for Boy child and I and once for Girl child – she went to church when we went to the beach the second time),
  • caught up with most of the family,
  • swam in a cousins pool,
  • attended a birthday party, and
  • had Cold Rock Ice Cream for the first time.

We stayed longer at the party then I had planned so we got home at 9 pm last night.  I’m tired and have a headache (probably because I’m tired) and I would so love a nap but it’s not going to happen.

I’ve had coffee and chocolate breakfast cereal so I am hitting the water now and after some painkillers I will attempt to catch up on my blog reading.

Lucy’s Giveaway

Over at Diminishing Lucy, the Lovely Lucy has a giveaway in progress. It finishes soon on Tuesday 13 April to be exact.

The prize consists of a box of things to help you on your way to diminish yourself and to be eligible you have to follow her and comment on the giveaway post with your best and most honest reason.

So I’m doing a post to actually put it out there that I want to lose weight but at this point I am not committed just interested. Read Lucy’s post on this here.

Anyone who has actually read the things on my Day Zero Project (yes I will put up a page for it soon, maybe) will know that I do have a few weight and fitness related goals.

Do more exercise at least 3 times a week for 3 months (12 weeks).
Drink more water 5 glasses to get up to at least 1.5 litres daily for 30 days
    Lose 2 kgs
    Lose 5 kgs
    Lose 8 kgs
    Lose 10 kgs
    Lose 12 kgs

Keep weight off for at least 6 months.

Try Zumba at least 5 times
Have a Chocolate free week 6 times
Cut back on caffeine. Try to get down to 3 or less a day (any caffeinated beverage) for a month
Start the Couch to 5 km run thing.
Complete the Couch to 5 km run thing.
    Take vitamins for 1 month

Some of these things I have achieved and marked off my list but they were the relatively easy ones: drinking more water, chocolate free week and cutting back on caffeine.  Unfortunately over Easter I fell off the wagon with the last two.

What you may not know is one of the reasons I want to do this stuff.  There’s the standard I want to get fit and healthy, be a good example to my children, etc but my main goal is a very selfish one: To be able to fit my wedding ring by our 15th anniversary. Sep 2010.

You see  I haven't actually worn my wedding ring since I was pregnant with Girl Child in 2003.  And it’s the ring that my grandmother wore when she married her first husband - my mother and aunt’s father.  So it has sentimental value no just for our wedding but also as it is a family heirloom I guess.

It’s etched so I can’t really get it resized without damaging the pattern not that it’s a pattern that it would matter with but I would know and that would make me sad.  I know I need to get my head in the right place but at the moment I really don’t know how to get it there.  I have had it in the past but it’s currently lost.

So that dear readers, is why I would like to win Lucy’s giveaway.

And even if I don’t win the giveaway, I have put this put there for everyone to read now. So maybe, just maybe, I will move from interested to committed and feel accountable to you all.

My blog is beautiful, again!

The absolutely wonderful Anna has passed me the Beautiful Blogger award again.  Given I have  only just received it and passed it on, I thought I would just acknowledge Anna.

I also need to say how in awe I am that people seem to like my blog.

Are you all nuts?

Seriously, it is very much appreciated.

I heart you sticky

Beautiful Blogger Award

beautiful_blogger_thumb
I was privileged enough to be given this by 2 people recently.  The wonderful,  inspiring and generous people were:
Jen from Jemikaan and
Stacey from Say Something Stacey
Here are the rules:
  1. Thank and link to the person that gave you the award
  2. Pass the award along to 7-9-15- however many bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic!
  3. Contact said Blogs and let them know they’ve won
  4. State 7 things about yourself
Thank you very much Stacey and Jen.  I’m honoured to be joining you both as a Beautiful blogger.
7 Things About Me:
I’m assuming these are supposed to be things I haven’t shared in the blog world yet so I will try my best.  Given it is Easter I think I will make Easter my theme.
  1. My extended family are Christian and I am the black sheep of the family as we don’t go to church.
  2. I have already started eating Easter eggs as Mr E won a basket of them from a raffle he entered at work.
  3. We eat chocolate for breakfast on Easter Sunday.  I try to get everyone to eat hot cross buns as well to reduce the chocolate intake.  I am not always successful.
  4. I often make my own Hot cross buns as gluten free ones available in the shops are quite expensive.  This year I bought a pack of 6 for $9.95.
  5. I ate the last bun this morning.  So now I have to cook some.
  6. When I do cook my own hot cross buns, I can never remember the recipe so used to ring my mother to get the recipe every year.  Now I use Google instead.
  7. Our pet rabbit is sometimes used to help if we have an Easter Egg hunt.
Just some  of the Beautiful Bloggers I read:
Peta at Come Rain or Come Shine.
Being Me at Sunny Side Up
Pink Patent Mary Janes
Kakka from Menopausal Mumma
Lucy from Diminishing Lucy
Lulu at Unperfect Life
Juni / Jennifer at Where is Juni?
Daria from Satisfy my soul
Clarissa over at Limpets and Penguins
Now some of these  are recent discoveries and some aren’t. But I think they are all Beautiful bloggers in their own way.  I’m very sorry if you don't do awards or if you already have this one but sometimes you deserve to get it more than once!
And for those who aren't listed here if I read and comment on your blog then I think you are pretty great too!

Autism Awareness Day 2 April 2010

WAAD7_02[2]

Regular readers are probably aware Boy Child has Aspergers.  He was diagnosed at age 6 but we had been concerned about certain things he did from about 2.5 or 3 years of age.  We spent more than 3 years being told that all kids do x, y or z depending what it was we were concerned about at the time.

Here are just some of the weird, wonderful and sometimes bizarre things that have been part of our lives.

Noises of small motors would freak him out.  The vacuum cleaner couldn't be used while he was in the house.  The hand dryers in public toilets would cause him, to cower and cry with his hands over his ears.

He threw up every time someone tried to get to him to eat a food he considers ‘gross’.  Sometimes he would throw up just sitting near the ‘gross’ food. This started in day care and continued until about two years ago.

He has a phenomenal memory.  He would talk about a holiday we went on just before he turned two in detail until after he was 4.

In order for him to go to sleep we would have to lie down with him for at least 2 hours every night.

Playing imaginative games as preschooler /early school age child meant he told you what character you were and exactly what your character had to say and when.

At 6, Boy Child could apparently talk to animals in their language.   This lasted around a year.

He was never going to reach a certain age as he was going to turn into a half dinosaur half boy on the eve of his birthday.

He likes to collect things.  I once discovered he had collected a drawer of rubbish.

He was a junior black belt in Tae Kwon Do before he turned 8.

Boy child is very creative and artistic.  He likes to invent characters.  One set of these characters appeared in every piece of work for English for a year.

He is now 11.5, he has friends who he walks to school with and plays with.  He is very into music, is in the school band and does Funk.  He doesn't understand why some boys are looking at girls and saying they are ‘hot’.  Apparently that is gross and wrong.

He is the kid that other mothers talk about.  They say things like “wow, isn’t he good looking and polite.” “You better lock him up, all the girls will want him.” He is unimpressed by all the attention.

He still doesn’t sleep well but he lets me hug him now without pulling away and that is worth cherishing.

Thanks to Jen at Jemikaan and Katrina from Little Tassie Terrors from whom I borrowed this idea ,  Madmother who posted great pictures of Boy 1 and Kakka who is Menopausal Mumma  and who posted a nice positive post.

I hope this post brought a little  Autism Awareness into your life today despite being very late.
